group’s Founder” - click here. (Click on back arrow to return here) That said, it’s time to move forward again. With my energy renewed, it is time to start thinking of the coming year. We do plan to hold more live, on-line chats with doctors and hopefully, we will meet that particular goal in 2009. Making a lot of news these days are the Hip Resurfacing and the Stem Cell Implant procedures. Many of our members have had these done, and they very kindly give us updates on their remarkable progress. You need to join our organization, then join our Yahoo community to read all about it. It’s really worth the effort. We believe that “Knowledge is power”, and no where is this more true than with a rare disease. Come learn with us and empower yourself. This isn’t really a special event, but it is certainly worthy of mention: Thanks to two of our members, we have our own private chat room. Yahoo members know that in times past, Yahoo offered chat rooms for their groups. They were discontinued a couple of years ago due to security issues. People try to use their Yahoo Messenger service, which is good --until you get more than a few people in the little ‘room’! A private chat room works much better and is truly private, therefore, quite a bit safer. Thanks to Deb C. for creating it for us, and Ken K. for donating it this year. We really love our chats! It is a great relief to talk to others who know how you feel and what obstacles you are facing. You can’t chat with us until you join us, so why wait? If you have AVN, there is no time like the present! Go to our “Join Us” membership form by clicking here. That’s it for now! Please check back here from time to time for future updates. |
Special Events page! This year's AVN Family Day picnic was blessed with weather so good that none of us wanted it to end! Although we did not have as many attendees this year as last year, that's OK. So many of us had to go in for surgery this year, that it was impossible for many to come. Our very best well wishes go out to all who are recovering from surgery and to all who are facing surgery. Perhaps you can join us next year -- which is what this page is all about! As we grow, we will add more events to this page. For now, our 'main event' is our annual AVN Family Picnic Day, but there are more things to come! Fr. Mike tells me that he will be traveling once again, and we are going to keep up with his travels right here, on this page! Whatever area he goes to, we know that usually there are members of our organization close by. He is always up for a party or a get-together! When he announces where he is going to be and when, we will post it here. If you would like to have him visit you, you can then write to him yourself and get a party going! Invite other group members who may live near you, and before you know it, you will be having a wonderful time! |
announcing our plans for next year's Family Day Picnic! Date: July 18, 19, 20th, 2008 Place: Carpathian Village Center, Cresco, PA Time: Arrive on Friday, July 18, if you wish, and stay until Sunday morning. Or, just come for the main event day, Saturday, July 19th. Where to stay: We have cabins, a dorm, and fully equipped camp sites available to us. All details on rates, etc., will be on the Picnic Registration page (See link at end of this article). There are also motels and B&B's close by, so there are accommodations enough for everyone! Special Guests: Depending on the number of people coming, we would love to have some special guests. If we can get enough people to come, we can make a 'convention' out of our picnic, and we may be able to have some of our doctors come to speak with us. And, who knows? We just may be able to get Bob Wall, our official spokesperson, out here on the east coast next year! Here is the link to the Picnic Registration and Info page: Picnic Info |
